Lowrance 334C help!

USDA3

Question

Have got a new 334C this spring and have been having trouble with it since the day it came out of the box. First it was aquiring a GPS signal enough to hold a position, got that taken care of.

Now the problem were having is with the chart and depth features. We have found no consistant way to keep a good signal of the bottom. Every so often, (this interval varies from a few seconds to minutes) the bottom signal is lost and we get a depth reading that flashes and we loose the picture of the bottom. Sometimes it will say 1.6 ft deep or anything other than the actual depth, and will flash on and off for up to a few minutes before re-aquiring a bottom signal. Now this happens when were moving fast slow or not at all. I don't think it's a ping/speed issue. have also played with the sensitivity and that doesn't seem to change much. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Are you running a second depth finder? I've found that if I use my second sonar in deeper water (anything over 8 feet or so), it creates a level of interference that my 330C can't handle. My Lowrance will then act the same way as you describe.

Just a thought.

check the software version, I, as well as a few others have experienced similar problems with the new software versions for the lowrance sonar/gps units. Check the open water forum for a thread about this. I was emailed the previous version for my lcx-25c and it fixed this problem. I am trying to get ahold of the software version for the lms-332 for some friends of mine that are also having this issue.

I havent had that problem but Ive lost my position signal before. My only suggestion is to check the tranducer, make sure it hangs below the hull and is clean. Mine has worked great since I figured out the wiring. That depth finder is loaded with everything I would ever need.
