2000 Accord "SRS" light on

The red "SRS" light came on the other day. I've read a bit about it being part of the air bag system and maybe even including a malfunction in the seat belt. Anyone have this issue with their Accord before?

Yep - three times for problems and several others for issues described below. Depending on what part it is in the SRS that has malfunctioned Honda may have extended the warranty for it to like 150,000 miles.

Ours used to come on when my wife would set her school bag on the seat - the sensor "thought" it was a small child so it would attempt to disable the air bags for us. After that she put her bag on the floor on the passenger side & it went off. I've heard that some people's dogs also do the same thing when riding shotgun.

Just so you know too the air bag will NOT deploy in the event of a crash when that light is on. Honda made sure we knew this several times when dealing with these issues.

I also had the problem and it was due to something with the seatbelts. Dealer replaced them and reset the SRS chip thingy and all was good.

I Called the dealer and they looked up the VIN number and said it wasn't covered under any recall or extended warranty that was issued. What year was your car?

2002 Honda accord.

A 2000, V6, coupe. We got a letter in the mail about it from Honda.
