I've got half a dozen. Like them lots when there are tall-profile baitfish around like shad or little crappies. And the smaller ones work well on perch and crappies. Aggressive walleyes will come up several feet to smack them, and banging them on the bottom brings in pike.

I have a couple of them that I bought last year, but haven't figured out the best way to present them yet. I would try them, but went back to my proven and really didn't give them a chance. Maybe someone can shed some light on this. I understand they are supposed really catch fish.

Raven,
I have had great success on LOW and Mille Lacs useing the medium and large sizes tipping the tail hook with a minnow head or perch eye. On the tail the seem to fly more true in the water. I have also caught alot of jumbo perch on the smaller ones tipping them with maggots. You guys should try the hali jig they make now, it looks like the Pilki that rapala quit making...man they are great on the perch! Note: always keep your dead stick more than a few feet away when jigging with the Nils, I **** near yanked it into the water last season, those Nils really fly along distance in deeper water(20+)

I've had so much trouble with all the varieties of jigging Rapala type baits with the head/tail single hooks hanging up on the side of the hole (usually losing the fish) that I pinched them all off, like some of the In-Fisherman guys do. Before that, I never caught a fish that was hooked only on one of the singles, the center treble was always in their mouth and hooked. And since, I haven't missed any more bites than I did before. For pike/walleyes/crappies, I hook a minnow head on the rear-facing hook on the treble, and that seems to run true. For pannies/crappies, I use waxworms on the rear tine.

With the Nils Master series, I use them basically like a jigging Rap: Big lift/fall motion to call them in, somtimes banging it on the bottom, then a combination of little lift/falls, head-nods, trembles, etc.

The master jiggers are one of the first things I tie on now.

When is winter coming?

I like to use the smaller silver/blue sizes for perch on Mille Lacs. Caught a few small walleyes as well (15 inchers, but still fun). I like to tip the treble hook with maggots when fishing perch. I also use jigging rapalas for perch as well. Both Rapala and Nils-Master are similiar in status but personally I prefer Rapala. Weight distribution seems more percise in Rapalas. I have both in my arsenal tough.

Good Fishin, Matt.

I first used a Nils 3 seasons ago and I am still sold on these baits. I do alot of night fishing during the ice season on clear water lakes. These baits have a great profile and the walleyes can pick them up easily. I have watched them move up several feet on the Vex to smack the Nils. One tip I have is replace the treble hook from the factory with a smaller size, I have much better hook-up ratio. If they hit it I dont miss many if any!! Bring on the ICE!!!!

I really like the wide profile on the Nils. If you like the jigging rapala, you should really love the Jigging Nils minnows.
