fishnfool
We are planning a trip to URL for some crappies in March on our way back home from Devils Lake ND. Of course we hope to have a cooler full of walleye and perch from Devils Lake along with us. My concern obviously would be that we will be in violation of possesion limits in Minnesota with the Devils Lake fish in the vehicle. Anyone have any ideas to help keep us out of trouble with the DNR in Minn.
Guest
I'm not sure If I'm hearing you correctly....But If I am, You KNOW that you will be in violation of posession laws?If this is correct. You have come to the wrong place to find out how to break environmental laws. So, my advice is to go home with your limit and nothing else. If I misunderstood you, I'm sorry and if you're wondering about posession laws,...The book has it all.
fishnfool
I believe you did misunderstand me, it is not our intent to break any states laws. As I stated these fish would be caught (legally) at Devils Lake and on our way home to Wisconsin thought we might stop at URL and spend a few days fishing for some crappies. Since we are driving, realistically just driving home through Minnesota would be in violation of the possesion laws. That is why I asked for some advice, to avoid trouble rather than look for it. minneman
I think i read someone asking this same question on the upper red fourm, they said to ask the resort owners or the like to store them for you. and they did.
Guest
fishnfool - I would go to the DNR office in Devils Lake, show them the fish, tell them my plan and have them give you a note [transport pass?] for your purpose and zip right to URL bag a bunch 'pies. If you have a digital camera use that also ... you're planning for the just in "case stop" and not an unlawful act I understand that ... good luck. WallEYES
FISHIN FOOL You can keep your possesion of eyes/perch and fish URL. Last year on LOW on the canadian side we went thru border patrol at Baudette coming back into Mn. Inside they issued us a transport/possesion pass of fish we possesed...lake trout, crappies and perch. You must have the valid license for that State for your possesion along with possesion ticket. All your walleyes /perch must stay at a resort, since no walleyes can be kept onURL. The best thing to do is put them in a cooler with your name on them and leave them at the resort you enter URL from. Go fish and then pick them up at the resort when you leave. vikingtom
you still can't take walleyes on to URL since it is closed for keeping walleyes. Hudecs will store them. I"m almost postive and it.
