Transfer case seal leaking on 99 dodge cummins

It's a new process transfer case, model number 241 DLD

I had this replaced under warranty about 30K, I have just under 100K now and the front shaft seal going to the front differential is leaking. Can anyone give me some idea's as to why this is happening again? It seems to me I shouldn't be having this problem so soon.

Also how hard of a fix is this? I would like to do it myself.

I should add that I checked the fluid and it was up to the top but it need's to be fixed.

The front differential shaft is also leaking going back to the transfer case to. Any idea on how hard this is to replace?

Something isn't true (out of round) I'm guessing.

That thought came to my mind too. Another thing is maybe a vent plugged?

If it is leaking at the front differential and the transfer case I would have that drive shaft checked as it could be out of balance or just a bad u-joint.

Key word is leaking or seeping. Diff's will seep at one time or another. I have seen many out put shaft seals leak (It may be because I worked at a dodge dealer for last 3 years). Boths seal are not hard to replace. They pay under an hour and a half for both. I would look more at yoke surface to see if it has grove in it or rust, that is tearing seal. I saw more of this than out of balance shaft's. I only can remember one case of out of balance shaft replacment. That was on rear drive shaft though. A seal is cheap, shafts are not.

It did have a drip on it so I think that would be leaking slightly. What kind of work is it for a DIY'er to do it.

The way it looks to me I would need to drain the transfer case.

Then unbolt the shaft and pull the yoke out.

Would I just pry the seal out and install a new one?

Any special seal or just get it at a bearing place?

I guess if it isnt to hard and it lasted me this long I could do it every couple of years. I dont feel any vibration so I do question if its out of round.
