rascalP
Obviously, it looks like you're too busy getting the big fish to mess around with those pesky bass, but maybe you might know how they're doing. And you say the water is low? Is it so low that that the bass may be looking for deeper spawning? 2 ft spots now out of the water? Must be alot of wood poking out if thats the case. I'm gonna try to get up there in the next couple of weeks, but not sure if it will happen before June. Sure would like to do the pre-spawn thing. Thanks for all your info. One of these times I'm gonna give those salmonoids a try!rascal
Jim Hudson
Hey man... I knew I would hear from ya soon.. hahahaHavent had time to do the slough deal yet.. But from what I hear, the bass are definately in and I wouldnt be suprised to see some on beds already... Probably going to be a short lived pre-spawn gig like last season again...Yup, low water... And I do believe the bass will spawn in deeper stretches.. Or what was deeper stretches.. Actually, personally, I think a lot of bass spawn deeper then we actually see... Like the 6 to 8 FOW spots out in front of the Kakagon and Sand Cut... Other places on the Great Lakes are seeing this.. So I would say the same out here as well.. rascalP
JKH, Thanks for the reply. I think you're right about those deeper spawning fish. Though I don't like to target beds, I think there must be some fish milling around those deeper spots. Every time up, I try to add some new areas and techniques. Might have to spend a little more time in that deeper water for some less pressured fish. Gotta go - headed up to Mille Lacs in the morning to do some walleye fishing. Sposed to be a hot bite going on. I'm sure me and my buddies can put an end to that rascal
