Ryno9
I have a 2001 Rancher. Currently it will only start via the pull rope. The battery shows 12-13 volts and I have tried to jump start it as well without success, so I don't think the battery is an issue. When the start button is pushed the solenoid behind the battery clicks and there is no other sound. Occasionally I have heard a feeble attempt at an engine turnover. The dealer believes the starter needs to be replaced or rebuilt. Has anybody seen this before and agree or disagree with this diagnosis?
SHOOTECOGO
It sure sounds like a starter to me. I've always had them rebuilt with good success.
Scott K
Sounds like the starter or solenoid, could be either, do a voltage drop across the solenoid, to see if the solenoid is good.
