LOW I.C.E. Series Tourney

Recommended Posts

Hey all,
With this cold weather we've been having, and by the sounds of it will have for the next week or so, it is looking more and more that the ice conditions will be fine for the LOW event. We've been holding off promoting this one since it was looking kinda shaky there for a while. I'll be getting emails out this afternoon to all who qualified for the bonus, and we will give you until next friday to either contact us to let us know you will be there for sure, or get payment to Rick. We'll then open it up to the next few teams in line.
Remember, this is still open to anyone who wants to participate and anyone is still eligible for the $500 first place prize. Only those who qualified are eligible for the bonus $500 that will be awarded on top of the normal $500.
Any questions, contact Rick, Paul, or myself.
If you are unsure weather you have qualified for the bonus, and can't wait for my email, check the thread in the ICE Series forum under overall standings.

Hey Gullguide and all!

If you could, please give a brief on some specifics, date again, time and where this will be held out of. I know everyone should use the appropriate link, but I am lazy!

Ironically, JA SAY TREE, myself and a few others will be making our annual trip up there. We will be fishing Buffalo Bay, but plan to hit the "South shore" on Saturday the 16th. Would like to hook up if at all possible!

Everybody,

Easier to do the cut and paste thing than type up a summation. I'm lazy too grin.gif

So far this whole series has been a blast. A lot of good fishing, a ton of fun has been had, an some fishing buddies have been made for life smile.gif

 Lake of the Woods: Tourney Headquarters out of Schuster's Resort on March 16-17, 2002. Here is where you will find plenty of walleye, sauger, pike, and perch with a few nice crappie spots as well.
We limit our field to 30 teams per event. You may sign up for as many events as you wish. You will find experts as well as beginners mixed in the field. The emphasis is on learning new techniques and having fun at these two day events.
This is a great way to get out and learn new leading edge ice fishing tactics and meet some great new fishing friends in the process.
We also offer a $500 1st place prize along with many sponsor prizes at each event in the I.C.E. Series. So you have the opportunity to come home with a nice bit of change in your pocket or great ice gear. Sponsors are listed on the info and rules page (access to it is below).
This will be a two-person team event with the cost for entry at $50 per team.
I anticipate that in most of the tournaments, the entries will be sold out quickly, so contact us as soon as possible to get your spot in this informative and fun.

The events will be weight converted to points. See scoring below.
Team Requirements
All teams must meet the following criteria
 Stringers are prohibited.
 You should have some type of communication device- cell phone or marine band radio. This is for weather related communication & emergencies. Frequency of marine band radio transmissions will be announced prior to event and all cell phone numbers should be submitted with fee payment.
 All shelters must meet state of Minnesota requirements.

 March 16-17
Lake of the Woods
Schuster's Resort (15% discount for contestants)
7:00 am to sunset
At each event, members MUST report into the official starting site at least 30 minutes before the start for a rules meeting.
Basic Rules-
1: All teams must obey state laws, rules, and regulations
2: Good sportsmanship- Teams may not get closer than 30 yards from another team or 10 yards from other anglers. If other anglers move closer to your spot you may stay. Direct contact close enough to exchange fish with other anglers or suspicous activity is grounds for disqualification.
3: All misconduct must be brought to the attention of event coordinator and alternate coordinator for a ruling. Severe violations will result in loss of daily points, suspension or removal from events. There will be no refunds.
4: Bringing ice picks in case of ice breakage and ice grips to limit slippage is highly recommended. You are responsible for your own safety. We stress ice is never safe. Proceed with due caution.
5: Members may not leave the ice except for emergencies or at the official tournament site.
6: All water that is accessible without touching land may be fished.
7: Events may be delayed in the event of severe weather, but because they will be all-day events, we will try to get some time in during the course of the day.
8: Scoring rules will be posted in the scoring section of this page.
9: No pre-fishing of lakes on day of the event.
10: All portable shelters, gear, and transportation must be available for close inspection 1/2 hour prior to the event. You may not use any shelter or transportation that has not been inspected prior to the event. You may use the sponsor Resorts ice shelters without inspection (The resort owners will ensure compliance with no cheating)
Please be organized to allow an effective inspection.
11: All teams must check in with the Event coordinator prior to starting the event.
12: Rule changes, additions or subtractions will be shared with all entrants prior to each event.
Scoring-
 Fish will be scored on the basis of weight converted to points. This is to provide equal scoring between different species.
 Each team may only score one (1) legal limit of fish per team.
Currently- 6 walleye, 3 pike, 6 bass, 15 crappie, 20 perch, and 30 bluegill.
Once a fish is weighed, that fish will go towards that teams total.
Once a limit of any species is scored, no other fish from that species will be recorded. All slot sizes and limits will be observed.
Event Soring System Is As Follows:
 1 pound of Walleye/Sauger = 1 point
 1 pound of Bass = 1 point
 1 pound of Pike = 0.5 points
 1 pound of Perch= 1 point
 1 pound of Sunfish=3 points
 1 pound of Crappie=2 points

Special Rules or Changes
 The Tournament Director or scorer will announce each morning any necessary rules changes.
 Frozen or thawed out fish will be disqualified.
 The Tournament scorers decision will be final.
 If requested, by the Tournament Director, the winner of the event must submit to a lie detector test.
All fish scored at official event site will be scored by the official scorer, except when scoring for his/her team when scoring will be done by designated alternate official.
All disputes will be settled by The official scorer and alternate official. Their decision is final. Please note, rules are subject to change prior to the event and will be announced to all participants prior to the start of an event.
The scoring system is really very simple and works well. If you have any questions you can e-mail any of the following and get further info.
