CALVINIST
I discovered an awesome way to prepare fish while camping.... Get one of those pie irons from any camping store. Butter two slices of bread and put the buttered side against the pie iron. Next, take a slice of cheese and put on one half of the pie iron. Follow that with your favorite fish, I used three bluegill filets per pie. Season your fish with salt and pepper, and your favorite spices. Close it up and cook over the coals till golden brown. Yum! Nice way to cook fish while camping without getting the frying pan out. I suppose you could even forget the bread and cheese if you wanted. IndyEFI500
Sweet! I hope the guys I atv with don't see this so I can blow them away in camp. One guy especially will not eat anything unless it is between two slices of bread. This will simply slay him.
beer batter
I'm assuming those fillet's are precooked? From my experience you don't cook much in these pie iron's, it's more of a warm-melt or else the bread burns too quickly.Other things to try in the pie irons:pizza (squirt some sauce, cheese, and pick your toppings),blueberry or cherry pie filling, ham & cheese, reubens (simply the best!)We love these things at the lake.Any other unique pie iron sandwich ideas? Tripleplay
We use apple pie filling with the cinnamon and sugar inside as well.I've also seen s'mores done using the bread as the graham cracker. Seems like you can do the old fashioned s'more easier but thought I'd throw it out there. Those reuben's sound good.

Just have to go about the cooking process carefully as not to burn the bread.
