Fuel gauge

Well, I noticed the needle on the fuel gauge on our boat was stuck this weekend. I tapped the gauge to see if I could unstick it, and much to my surprise, the dang needle fell off. This is on a 1993 Alumacraft Competitor (side console). I didn't have a lot of time to mess with it. Is this something that will be easier to bring in, or is it failry simple?

If you get the matching gauge it's easy to replace. Just take note (or a picture) of the wire colors and location on old gauge.

There should be 4 wires

Black -

Purple +

Blue (illumination)

Pink (sending unit)

Where would I find a matching gauge?

I don't think I have one, but you can try sending me a picture.

Otherwise a dealer should be able to get it.

Will a regular Teleflex gauge work out fine?

If it's a boat fuel gauge it should work fine, that's what you probably have.

Thanks much for the help. The new gauge went in without problems and works just fine. As I suspected, taking out the dash to get the gauge out was by far the most difficult task!
