Crestliner Fishhawk 1750 Horn Wiring Question

Hi there, Hoping someone can help me out on this. I have 2000 Fishhawk 1750 DC and my horn doesn't work. When I looked up under the dash I see it only has one wire (white) attached to it and the other prong is empty? Anybody know which color wire goes on the other side? I assmue that there should be two wires running to that horn button? ANy help would be greatly appreciated.

Jerry, there's always 2 wires going to any device:

the colored is +Positive, and the black is - Negative.

In your case you are missing the negative. Is there a connector unplugged or is wire broken off at horn ?

I would run a test light to white wire and press horn switch to see if test light will light up. If it works,I would try a ground test wire (two alligator clips, one on each end) from you ground post on fuse term block to the empty male elec. end from your horn. If horn works, find the missing end or run a new ground wire. If this does not work, I have had luck with cleaning inside of horn out and getting it to work.

It looks like there was never a wire on there. Ok dumb question here...Where's the horn located on these boats?

Follow the lead from the horn button itselt. I'm assuming 2 wires are coming from that, one is hooked up to the actuall horn and the other is screwed into the aluminum wall inside the boat as the ground. Or it could be something simple like a blown fuse, try that first.

Absolutely not. There is no wire screwed to any part of metal on boat. Ground is not to body, or it will corrode hull in a matter of hours due to electrolysis.

Horn in in front of boat, you can see a black oval grille on the outside of hull. The switch has 2 wires attached to it, one is positive + from fuse block, the other to horn itself

I have the exact same boat except its a 03. I have never been able to keep that horn working. Its always blowing fuses. Had them replace the horn under warrenty once still the same. I've given up trying to keep it working. I have a hand held air horn for those needs now.
