Smeds
Wondering if anyone has this setup. Picking one up this week. Would like to throw a SS prop on the 75, wondering what dia. x pitch? Thanks for the advice!
caseymcq
I have the same boat minus the kicker. I am getting it out of storage tomorrow. I will see what prop I am running.
Smeds
Thanks ... I'll pick mine up sometime next week. Going to do a water test at that time to find the right prop. Let me know what your rpm's and top speed is at WOT as well, that will probably help me out alot.
ewirz
I have a Tourney Pro 175 w 75hp merc 2 stroke and 9.9 kicker, basically the same boat, little different power plant. I'm running a 13 x 19 pitch prop (Merc HSOforum recommended any where from 15-21 pitch for the motor). I have a decent hole shot but if I have 3 or more guys its a little sluggish out of the water. With just me and fishing gear I get around 35-37mph GPS. 33-34 with 2 guys. RPM's @ ~5200 WOT. I've never run a 4 stoke (heard nothing but good things about yammy's) but from what others have said I would imagine you'll get a couple mph slower. Not exactlly what you're looking for but thought it would give you an idea. ERW

caseymcq
I am running a 13 1/4 x 17 prop. I am getting about 35 mph @ 5600 rpm with 1/2 tank and one other person. More gas and/or another person 30 - 32 mph.
Smeds
Finally had time to get the boat in the water. It was propped with a 13 1/2 X 15, and with two guys and a tank full of gas hits 33.5 mph @ 5800 rpm. I wonder if the 13 1/4 X 17 wouldn't be better ... don't want to lose too much holeshot though, and it seems to be right where it should with the 15 pitch as far as rpm's go. Might have to try a 17 pitch ... thanks for the update.
marine_man
If it were me I'd leave it where your at unless you're planning a switch to stainless. You're running near the upper end of your RPM band which is good, and with one person and a 1/4 tank of gas you'll be right at the top end of it.If you go up to a 17 you'll put yourself toward the lower end of the band - you'll pickup a little speed, but will definately loose holeshot...Unless you have holeshot to spare I'd leave it be.marine_man
caseymcq
My prop is aluminum. If I were going SS I would probably go with the same prop configuration. My holeshot is decent so I think it would be fine with SS too.
