hunt4food
I found a couple of good resources a couple of months ago. I think I got the links from here somewhere. Here they are. http://www.ngpc.state.ne.us/infoeduc/mag/features/ybones.htmlhttp://www.mwd.com/burnett/pike2.html
Guest
When people ask me how I remove the y bones I tell them, "With my fingers." Just fillet them babys and fry them up in chunks. I was raised believing fish was a finger food and to remove the bones just bend the cooked fillet and they pop right out. Really big gators have y bones the size of toothpicks and are impossible to miss. The bones I am usually concerned about are the last few right before the tail setion. They really aren't y bones, but rather straight little ones that are hard to find sometimes. That it the part of the fish is what "daddy" gets. The wife and kiddies get the back strap chunks and the crispy tail section. Man I'm getting hungry.
