60" Drift Sock

anchor man

Question

I want to purchase the 60" Wave Tamer sock by Lindy. I'll use it for controlled drifts and forwards trolling with the main motor. I have a 1700 Fisherman with an F150 motor. I can only get down to about 3mph while trolling forward using the Yam. without the sock. Will the F150 put too much stress on a 60" sock?

Thanks

I cannot directly answer your question but I would reccomend that you check out Wave Tamer's HSOforum and look at the two bag system that they show. I think they reccomend 2-40 inch bags for your motor. I will say that the 2 bag system is very nice for trolling. It helps keep your boat from weather cocking in a cross wind, slows your boat and you can turn around on a dime. Sorry to take you off topic but I think you will like it for trolling.
