WalleyeWarrior
We will be heading up to Dogtooth the first week of June. I know that Dogtooth has splake, but I don't think it's a numbers lake. Are there any good trout lakes close to Dogtooth that I'd be able to trailer to for the day? I've got a 17-1/2' Crestliner with 115, so a little carry-in lake won't work. Any lake suggestions as well as tips would be greatly appreciated.

ccarlson
Just go into Kilvert which is attached to Dogtooth. Good chance for numbers there, possibly size as well. Wayne will know more at the resort. There are also more lake trout in Dogtooth itself than you may think. It is not just splake.ccarlson
WalleyeWarrior
Thanks for both posts. I have heard about Dryberry. How long of a ride on the dirt road is it? I've heard parts of the road in can be treacherous. Gibi also interests me. Where is it located? Finally, in response to Kilvert. We've made the jaunt up there a few times. Never tried for trout, though. We've been going up to Dogtooth for over ten years and usually catch our 'eyes there so we don't always want to burn the fuel to make the long run. As for Dogtooth, do you fish them in the main lake or on the way to Camp Hideaway? We saw a boat trolling with 'riggers on the latter. Finally, I know white tube jigs or white airplane jigs tend to be the favorite up in that area. Any other things to try? Thanks again for the info. My dad and I want to try something different rather than fish 'eyes for the entire week.
cedarnarrowsguy
I've had good success trolling with sutton spoons, anything that has a flash and mimics bait fish should work for you.

Nightcrawler
to get to Gibi Lake take Witchbay Road [couple miles south of Rushing River]. go 6 miles to high line go under turn left for 2.5 miles follow high line will see cut in woods on right, cross ditch ,trail is narrow have to cross big flat rock after ditch.if you turn away from high line you went to far. BEST to walk in FIRST 1 mile. for rigging, i use a dippsy diver #0,- 6 ft. steel wire, with a spoon with sucker meat on. [docter, etc.] lighter spoons no meat. 6 in. silver-blue. run out about 50 ft.line ,put you down 20 or so ft. how about that to much info/? GO-BARBLESS --watch for rocks,--and ENJOY. WalleyeWarrior
Gibi definitely interests me. How good is the road going in there? I've got a pretty heavy boat. If there were mudholes, I think I'd have a hard time getting in there. Dryberry is also something that I am thinking about. I've got the itch. Thanks for all your help, guys.
