minn kota or motorguide?

I am planning on upgrading my bowmount trolling motor on my 18.5' skeeter glass boat. I have a minn kota 48 inch 48# cable motor now, which is too short and under powered. I am looking at the 80# 62 inch minn kota maxxium. any suggestions, or commits on this, or do I go to motorguide?

Look at the new Minn Kota Tarrova, they are a Power Drive with a digital maximizer and the head turns really quick which is nice.

Things to consider,

what foot pedal do you like?

Do you need the turning speed of a cable drive?

Can you fine a Maxxum on clearance to save some $$$

Then it comes down to whether or not you want Universal sonal and auto pilot.

You may have guessed that I am a Minnkota guy. My 65 PD went out on me last year after 5 seasons and I bought the 80 lb PD and I love the motor but I hate the deploy mechinism. Which they changed this year and they are awsome.

FYI, The motors that you are looking at are all 24 volt systems.

also if you chop through alot of weeds then you might prefer the minnkota.

just some thoughts,

John-*--
