zachp
Does anyone run this motor? I am looking at a '01 1775 pro v with this motor and also has 4 stroke evinrude kicker. Last year i ran a smaller boat with a 80hp yamaha and i really liked that motor because it was quiet and trolled down quite nicely, but with this boat i would use the kicker so the big motor would be for strictly getting me from one point to another.Any thoughts? dkf
Think you mean Evinrude 135 FICT. I bought my 17 Mr. Pike in 01' and looked at the 135 Evinrude. The 135 is basically a detuned 150 or 175 V6 with the same displacement and etc. I know around the time I bought my boat Evinrude was having problems with the FICTs and the future of OMC was shaky. Thats the reason I went with my 130 yamaha and the $3000 cheaper price tag. If the motor runs good you shouldn't have problems with it, just some FICTs had problems if my memory serves me right. Superduty
Evinrude basically went under because of this failed technology. I would find out if the motor has had any upgrades done by a dealer. I don't have any first hand knowledge of that specific hp, but I know of two 2000 200hp fichts that are junk and have been rebuilt. The rings go out, $3500 to rebuild a V6. zachp
Thanks guys, I was misinformed on the motor, It's actually a 115 fict, I think i would be happier with a yamaha but i'll take a look at it and ask about the engine problems and try to get all the info i can out of them. Kyle Sandberg
The V6 had all the problems but the V4 were fine.
marine_man
K Dawg is correct... the V4's were better than the V6's and didn't have nearly the number of issues that the V6's did. In my opinion, it's still a little bit buyer beware, but not much more than any other motor.marine_man
