Good practice or fish harassment

I work at the national headquarters of a large company and on the property there is a man made pond that is stocked with game fish which do not die in winter. The company opens it up to employees to fishing for a couple months every summer as long as you document what you catch and I think they expect you to let them go, not sure about that though. I have never done this and I think it is geared more towards kids but I wonder if this would be a good opportunity for someone inexperienced to test out different kinds of presentation to see what is more effective. However I would not want to be wearing out fish unnecessarily. I do not think many people fish the pond so it is not a constant harassing. What do you think, is method of gaining insight ethical?

Go for it! Millions of angler practice catch and release. The fish will be fine as long as you dont keep them out of water too long before release.
