1st snow goose hunt w/pics

Finally made it out this year for the light geese hunt in SD. We didn't do very well but i did shoot my first. I shot three and my partner shot three. Three in as many days..not too good but I had a blast anyways. We learned alot..mostly what not to do, but hey you gotta start someowhere.

nice pictures! i also got out on my first decoy hunts this spring, we ended up with 27 birds in two weekends of hunting between three of us. where were you guys hunting at?

We started out by Lake Preston area..then the last day gassed up the truck and went up to the big refuge .. Sand Lake I think. Did alot of scouting but it didn't really pay off this time. I think we would have been better off just finding some better fields right where we were. Oh well, live and learn.

i just shot a snow by waseca on the way home from work it was awsome 5 sitting in a field jumped them white shirt and tie dress shoes now all muddy hope the wife understands

Well, she probably wont but that doesn't mean it's wrong. Who really understands us waterfowlers anyways right?

i told her to wash my pants or pluck the goose she fired off a string of 4 letter words i didnt even know ha ha she knows im a addicted waterfowler she wanted to see me do it

Good work. I told myself I would go this year but it just never worked out. Next year there will be no excuses. Good to see your successes. Maybe next spring we need to host an event for FMers to get a bunch of people (and decoys) out there.

So, are you addicted to this wonderful chase? Congrats on some birds, they are fun and difficult to hunt.

I just returned from 4 days afield in Nodak. Lots of birds in the north half of ND...how was Sodak's population of birds?

There were still plenty of birds around we just werent in the right spots..oh well. The week earlier I was actually working in Watertown...now if I only would have been prepared...that was the week to be there. Geese everywhere, they sure moved through fast. Next year baby. It was still a blast, never seen more and different kinds of ducks in one spot, awesome. May have to make a trip this fall.

Ironman nice job! I am originally from Waseca and hadn't shot a snow goose until this year. Man they are not by any means an easy bird to hunt so don't feel bad about killing six! Thats pretty darn good for going cold turkey on your firt trip. I think between me and my buddies who are also rookies we have killed around 200 this spring which isn't a fraction of what we should have killed. They are sure fun to rip into at about ten yards though!
