fishinpapa
Here is my big complaint about MNDOT and the Minnesota Citizens...When they built 169 through bloomington 10 years ago, bloomington told them no ramps! Now they are putting in ramps and rebuilding the 494 intersection. Bloomington residents should NOT trump the entire transportation system of minnesota!! Big waste of money. But oh well it's not their money.
JohnMickish
Maybe Bloomington is now asking for the ramps? The thing about road construction that most people don't understand is two things. First is that roads are planned very far in the future and nobody has a crystal ball as to what/where people are going to live and or work. The cost for the new roads is figured out in present time and sent to the proper people for funding, then if things go right in a few years they will start working.Second, the average Joe taxpayer refuses to pay for the upscale version of the roads (which has all the built in future plans) and only wants the bare basics, then complains when they have to tear up the road to re-do what he wants now but didn't want to fund in the first place. You know the old saying, "you can pay me know or you can pay me later."Remember, MNDOT only gets to work with the money that we give them (and what the GOV matches) so if they don't have any money we don't get good designs. iffwalleyes
Quote:So here is my question I always slow down in a construction zone. When you guys are on the side of the road it that considered construction with out the sign?..ps you guys do a great job. If there is someone along side the road slow down it is as simple as that. There is a pedal on all cars called a brake. If there is a stalled car slow down or move over. It is very simple and to me common sense yet everyday I am amazed by the traveling public lack of common sense. I say as part of drivers ed they should take kids out along a highway and let the feel the force that comes off the cars/trucks. The force is very amazing. How many of you have had to change a tire along the interstate and have no one mover over for you? Been there done that.
BobT
Quote: If you've got a big boat and there's a little john or canoe in the area, SLOW DOWN! Those big waves can capsize those little boats. Actually I disagree with this one. Slowing down, unless you go to the point of no wake, will create larger wake than buzzing through on high speed plane.Whether in a larger boat or in my canoe, I would much rather a boat buzz by at high speed than to slow down.Bob
