Saw557
I disn't draw a turkey permit for the season I wanted but I was able to get a "E" season surplus tag.....better than not going at all...I hope. I've always hunted the "B" season what can I expect for the "E" season as far as the mood of the birds and chances of actually having a good hunt.ThanksScott
Borch
Actually the "E" season is one of my favorites. You'll do fine.
Hotspotter
I'll echo Borch's comments, as it is too, one of my favorites.Season "E" in MN tends to fall smack dab at the beginning of the secondary peak in gobbling activity. Hens are moving off to sit on nests while lonesome gobblers are still very interested in breeding. Net result is usually more gobbling than a week or two previously, and some willing toms without hens. The MN season however is set "back" 5 days later, so our calendar just switched up a bit. You should still find some active birds willing to check you out, esp. on private land that has not been hunted yet.Good luck!Joel
PrairieHunter
I have killed all my MN gobblers on the backside days of E so I think the push back is not a bid deal.Weather is the largest factor. "D" has been unfortunate the past few years with stuck "low" pressure systems and days of cool rain. I like thunderstorms rolling through the night before, but prefer mild weather in the morning hunt."E" is great for hunters willing take vacation to hunt MN gobblers - 4 weekdays. This year the final day (Saturday) falls on opening fishing.
riverrat56
Last season I hunted E, buddy tagged out 5 mins into the season, that bird was a little hungry if you know what I mean....I heard lots of birds in the morning, but they all seemed henned up, but then again I'm cursed and haven't got one yet in 6 years.
