good cheap fishing canoe

hey guys,

i'm looking at purchasing a new canoe, that will be used mainly for fishing. However i can't afford much over $500.00 does anyone have any suggestions on what to get?

also i was looking at the pelican canoes, was wondering if anybody has had any experiance with them?

If weight isn't much of an issue (and it better not be for under 500) then I don't think you can beat a Coleman/old town discovery canoe. They are the older, heavier plastic, but they will take a beating, are much quieter than aluminum, and quite stable. My lake superior salmon boat was a coleman canoe with a 2 hp motor....dynamite outfit for fishing the river mouths at nite. Not so good as a portage canoe...
