Aftermarket bike seat

Recommended Posts

Howdy, looks like I'll be the owner of a nice, used trek. After a short ride yesterday, I realize I'm gonna need a better seat to save my rear end. Any suggestions? Lots of options online, I'd like to narrow things down a bit. Thanks.

If you really want a comfortable saddle, look up Brooks Saddles. They are classic, long lasting, and (after a short break-in period) the most comfortable saddle you will find.

It is true that your rear end will need to "break-in" as well grin.gif, but nothing beats a good seat no matter what.

Whatever seat you purchase, make sure that you have your handlebar height, stem length/angle, and seat height/angle properly adjusted, so that when you are in a comfortable riding position, your butt is resting on your sit bones, and not your perineum. Top tube length is also relevant, but since you have the bike already it's a moot point.

Brooks Saddles has there own HSOforum, but I know they are sold by Rivendell Bicycle Works as well.

WTB Pure V... I have the team version and it is by far the most comfortable saddle I have ever used...no break in time and has held up well...check out the reviews on MTBR.

Seems to me like after the first 4 or 5 long rides of the season the saddle soreness subsides...the best way to get over it is to ride all year long.
