The decisions Childress and company made last year, and this year so far, have been so self centered, I will be very surprised, if he is here in 2008. The Vikes entire program is in such shambles right now, it's going to take many years to recover. It's so sad and pathetic. I'm a fan, but have to realize what is happening right now. Not good.

How much you want to bet that being #7 in the first round of the draft, they'll sh** the bed, AGAIN!, and make a completely moronic pick for a position that makes no sense what so ever..

I'm pretty sure that this years draft is pretty solid up to & after # 7 so if we end up drafting a punter or something like that at # 7 , I'll go help Childress clean out his locker . With the kinda stuff thats happening in free agency it almost predicts the draft could be bad , but hey Purple - keep the faith , maybe we will be pleasantly surprised .

This year seems like a pretty weak free agency market too. As far as skill players there are a few real good ones out there then after that the talent drops off considerably.

plus we cant have any trouble makers.i mean come on i gave up long ago with pro athletes being role models(save a few like kg, matty b,torri h)but we'll never have a good team until we pick players for there football ability,not there ability to stay out of jail.also i think childress is an (Contact Us Please).

I have to disagree, fdr01. IMO, a player's character has a lot to do with how well and to what degree he contributes to the team. How many times have you seen a team get burned by someone who is full of talent but can't stay out of trouble. Koren, Pacman, Chmura, and the list goes on and on. What good are these types of guys if they are suspended and can't set foot on the grounds? Furthermore, its not just the non-football related antics that can hurt a team. What about the egocentric me-first, "I want the ball every play," "I can't feed my family for less than 5 mill a year" athletes. They have proven time and again that the are nothing but a poison to the culture of the team and the morale in the locker room. Look how TO can single-handedly tear apart an organization. Look what Mike McKenzie did when he wanted off the Packers. Great example right now is the Lance Briggs fiasco. Tremendous athlete, but he is no good to you sitting on the bench.

I'll take the Aaron Kampmans, AJ Hawks, William Hendersons, or Matt Birks of the world anyday. They are going to play hard every snap, motivate their teammates, be leaders in the locker room, stay out of trouble off the field, and overall play the game for the right reasons.

I'll agree, you can maybe get away with drafting or trading for a problem child, and hope he walks the straight and narrow while you pay him millions so he stays happy, but it is a big risk...too big in my opinion.

im not saying to go out and get t.o. but come on passing on a guy because he may or may not be a good citizen or teamate all the time is just insaine.example micheal jordan best basketball player in history not a good husband and compulsive gambler.kirby puckett is probrobly the best baseball player i ever saw bad husband and possibly very abusive(god rest his soul).the point im getting at is that when i was a kid i looked up to bunch of pro athletes.alot were good guys and alot turned out to be a-holes but you cant run a pro sports team on morals and childress,wilf and sadley us vikings fans will find out the hard way.

Personaly I think the new Zygi Wilf Code of Conduct for 2006, while it was probably needed, cost at least 1 win because of players who were no longer there or were never there because of it in the first place.

While I would like to see them behave themselves, they burn their own pocketbooks with loss of endorsement money (ie Ray Lewis). That doesn't seem to deter a lot of them.

There first priority has to be from noon to 3:30 every Sunday. You would think that would be incentive enough, but I guess not.

I don't agree with a blanket statement or rule that says no matter what, we are not going to entertain offers for guys that have a questionable history. I would take a look at each player regardless of their reputation. Still, if there is a decent chance of them screwing up, which will ultimately affect your team, I would pass on them. Its all just risk vs reward. For example, right now, I am of the opinion that the risk of the Packers trading for Randy Moss is greater than the reward.
