electric radiant floor heating

I am in the process of finishing my basement. Was looking at the options for heating the basement and came across various manufacturers of electric radiant floor heating who say on their websites that it can be installed directly under the carpet pad and carpet. I am a little skeptical, I have seen it used under floor tile, but never carpet. Seems like it would be kind of dangerous, however, it is only low voltage systems that they say can be installed under carpetting. Has anyone seen it used under carpetting and how well does it work?

I dont have electric but I do have in floor heat. It does work under the carpet and pad, but it needs to be a low nap carpet. Also you should not use the heavier pad, I believe I used the mid weight. gl
