Another Reel Question!

Ok i know this probably get asked on here all the time, but could a guy us a low profile baitcaster for muskie or would they be better off using a round baitcaster??

I use a low pro for jigging but it does not cast well and the drag doesn't hold up very well to the heavy duty applications.

Hiya -

About the only low profile reel out there with the durability to stand up to muskie fishing is the Shimano Curado 300D. Really a great reel. Not cheap...but if you want a low pro for any amount of use with muskies, it's the only one worth getting.

round baitcaster is the way to go.

more line capacity and they can handle the heavier baits. The only time that I use a low pro is when I am throwing smaller spinners in june with 20lb power pro.
