Rost
Well, these are the storms we always talk about. The wet and heavy spring snow that hopefully will fill our sloughs, lakes, and streams. Even though my area isn't in the heart of the SD drought, I have witnessed very dry conditions just 30-40 miles west in recent years. Maybe this moisture will give our wetlands a boost and an additional shot of moisture for our farmers this spring. This won't fill up lakes such as Thompson and Poinsett, but I am certain this snow can't hurt'em. Mike Walerak
Snow is definatly needed to save some of them sloughs. Lake Poinsett and Thompson could use some snow. I have not been paying too close of attention. How is the future looking for the Misourri R. mw
ifishsd
Poinsett needs the snow. They are looking at putting a new boat landing in at Prestudes if the lake doesn't come up this spring. Looking to cost $250,000. Sounds like they got 7 inches of snow again today up there. Maybe my duck slough will be saved. Just hope this blizzard coming doesn't wipe out the pheasants. Rost
Poinsett has an enormous watershed (286,000 acres) which means a very wet spring could help it out a ton. We'll see I guess.
