50 HP outboard without tilt and trim

Does anyone know how to make a 1976 Johnson 50 hp [2 cyl] into a power trim and tilt engine? I have looked at jack plates but they are pricey for a 50 hp. A guy told me there was a shallow water option back then but I can't seem to find any information. The motor is in great shape and worth some effort.

There is no way out except the plates, even if you buy all the parts from a newer salvaged motor labor will be almost impossible.

Check hsolist they do sell a little cheaper there, and...no I don't have any right now, they do go fast when I get them in.

Look at it this way, if you sell motor with it it will have a better value, otherwise sell motor without it, and list plate for sale, you will get almost same price you paid.
