Dennis Johnson dead

I never gave him much credit as a player because he had such a great team with Boston, but Sports Guy sure put out a nice article about him on Page2 at ESPN. Pretty sad though. Sounds like it must have been a massive heart attack.

AUSTIN, Texas -- Dennis Johnson died Thursday after collapsing at the end of his developmental team's practice. He was 52.

Johnson, coach of the Austin Toros, was unconscious and in cardiac arrest when paramedics arrived at Austin Convention Center, said Warren Hassinger, spokesman for Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services.

Paramedics tried to resuscitate him for 23 minutes before he was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead, Hassinger added. Mayra Freeman, a spokeswoman for the medical examiner's office, said there will be an autopsy.

A very sad loss for the NBA. The guy was a living example of class.

dennis johnson will always have his place in nba lore thanks to larry legend and johnny most.

i heard larry talking about dj on the dan patrick show. bird said he was so glad when they traded for him cause dj would kill them when he was with the sonics. the stories bird told gave me more appreciation for dj as a player and basketball scholar.
