Headin' to Oahe

Recommended Posts

Heading out to Mobridge Saturday for some Oahe fishing. I fished South Dakota before but never been to Oahe. A few of the people I'm going with have had some good luck this year. We plan on targeting walleyes, northerns, and possibly crappies. I was just wondering if anyone has any insight to the good lures to use and if any particular color has been hot. Has the ice been decent as of late? Anybody have any reports from the area? I'm not looking for honey holes just general information. I’ll give my report when I return. Thanks in advance.

I would say that you should have a good chance at some eyes and maybe some big gators but I gotta say fishing crappies would be a lost cause.IMO. The walleyes seem to be going for swedish pimples, Angel Eyes, and Kastmasters all tiped with a minnow head, and the more aggressive the walleyes are they seem to be liking the Chubby darters and Jigging raps. Just experiment with different colors and you should figure them out really quick. As for locations I won't be giving out any info there, but if you keep an open mind you should find your own fish. wink.gif

good fishing to ya!!

    • Britt: Do you know where to view the Ruffed Grouse Society Invitational Hunt in Grand Rapids MN annual harvest statistics by year? Thanks.
    • Watch their interference disappear when you shut your marcum off 🤨
    • Rick was going to start that topic right after this one slowed down! 😅
    • Don't be fooled by stainless cables. Take proper care of them and change them every few years.Do your pivots every couple years too.
    • Might as well get augers in on this too!
    • Just counted 14 of them under and on my feeder. Cardinals, Nuthatches, Juncos, and asst sparrows came in and they chased them all away. It's like one stands guard and chase everything off. Sorry guys, time has come to start thinning the blue rats out!

    • nope..........havent graduated to posting meme's yet!!!!!!!!!
    • Have a marcum LX9 also use a couple Lowrance units. After using them side by side there are features I like on both but just comparing sonar units I'd have to say that my lowrance units squeak out a win for me over the Marcum. Both are very close to the same performance. The Marcum is much easier to just plop and fish where the lowrance units you have to dial in for each situation. I've never been a traditional flasher guy and never see the need to after using a graph.
    • Yep put mine away this past Saturday. I haven't used it since August. I wanted to park my truck inside instead and I would rather hunt then fish anyways...
