Adding electric start/charging system to a small outboard

have a 1989 johnson 15hp. would like to add electric start/charging system to it, and I don't really have any place to start. would it be setup similar to a kicker on a larger boat? any advise would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Some of the parts you will need are new flywheel, starter motor, charging coil/stator plus all the wiring. You nay want to find a similar year motor that is an electric start model and buy it, may be cheaper than trying to retrofit your engine.

You can still get a kit from BRP to do this part 173444 it is $699.99. Probably better off trying to find one in a junk yard and salvaging the need parts.

As Capt.Don stated and kjgmh posted, you will agree that is (unofrtunately) more cost effective finding another motor.
