Trailer Guide-ons: Pros/Cons?

eyepatrol

Question

Looking through my Cabelas catalog I see there are a few varieties of trailer guide-ons. Some are horizontal board-type where others are vertical posts.

Any pros/cons to getting one or the other? I've got a Karavan roller trailer and the horizontal guide-ons caught my eye a bit.

Thanks.

i'm fo rthe horizontal ones myself. the only experience i've had with the vertical ones were on a 16 ft lund i had. they did help, but left to much wiggle room while loading in wind or current. i put on the bunk style; set them so i had about an inch on both sides when the boat was centered. much better. even with my rangers' bunk set up, the side bunks come in very handy. only draw back is you may have to deal with rub marks some times.keeping them clean helps alot!

I like the tall verticle style over the lower horizontal style becuase the tall one, if the rub they will rub on the beefy rubrail of your boat and if you set the small carpeted bunks to close or load a little off to one side they will rub on your paint. Something to think about.
