Nimrod?

Does anybody know anything about the Nimrod ice auger adapter? The one you put on a 12v or more cordless drill. I can't really afford a real power auger right now.

They run about $20.

The thinner the ice, the more holes you can drill on a fully charged drill battery.

As with any auger, sharp blades make a huge difference!

How hard is it on the drill? I suppose it depends on the drill.

I dont' think they are hard on the drill, set it at low torque, and let 'er rip!

I suppose an powerful 18 volt would work best.

I picked one up at fleet farm last night. Now I just need an 18v or maybe 24v drill if I can find a cheap one with 2 batteries maybe. I heard of a guy just using a 12in drill extension on his 4in auger. He used it all year so far and hasn't recharged the battery yet. He's been out almost every day. He just quit going out in the last week.

I went to the tackle show this fall and saw one of these in action. 18V Dewalt drill powered this (Contact Us Please) thing without a problem, easily going through 18" of ice. Claims to be able to drill many holes, the biggest factor was having a real good drill.
