Dennis Steele
Hey WhiskersPool 2 is open and of course pool 4 is open also.I have heard reports of the cats biting very well on #4.There are stretches of the MN River open as well but there is still a lot of ice in the bends yet.I doubt it will be long for the MN to open up.I tried to get the River Pro out on sunday but with 30mph winds I kinda chickened out. Wind like that is just no fun!
Timdogg
Are you guys talking about flatheads? Do they bite when the water is this cold? I have heard they ice them, but also heard that they pretty much snag them in the mouth. Whats the story?

Timdogg
Sounds like fun. I didn't have very good luck there this winter. Hopefully you will do better than I did. I'm leaving for South Carolina on friday, so hopefully when I get back every river in the state will be wide open. One can only dream. Good luck to ya. I'll let ya know how I did with those big ol' blues when I get back.

Timdogg
Well, we didn't catch the fish like I had hoped, but it was fun anyway. We did catch 2 that went about 4 and 30 pounds. Talk about huge. I had never seen a cat that big, what a sight. If that thing was only 30 pounds I can't imagine anything bigger. I will for sure make my way up to Canada a couple time this summer to tangle with some of those huge Red River hogs. The weather was great though and so was Myrtle Beach. It was a very fun trip. If anyone ever makes their way down there, look up capt. Joe, you won't regret it.

Canuck
OPEN WATER, what is that!!!! Yesterday I drove my truck out on the Red at Selkirk and drilled some holes. Didn't need an extension but there was at least 3 ft of good ice. NO sign of break up here. One eye and 3 saugers in an hour at sunset. The greenbacks are starting to show up alittle. If this water keeps up we should should have a good couple of weeks of open water for greenbacks before they head out to the big lake.

Canuck
Rusty: Our season doesn't open until the 16th this year. It usually is the 2nd weekend of May but for some reason they set it at the 16th. Sorry guy, but the greenbacks should still be around and if it keeps like this I will be after them on the 16th Sat morning, that is if Stu doesn't have me working...... ha, some call it working.
