Fluorescent camping lantern for ice fishing

Just wondering if a fluorescent camping lantern works very well for ice fishing. I've never tried to use it in the cold. Do any of you use one?

I bought a nice one at target,i think, and it has done very well for me. The battery has lasted longer than i needed. It also has a nice little hook so i can hang it on the poles in my eskimo

I've got the Coleman 5317 that takes 8 'D' batteries. Works great for my Otter Cabin. Collapses for travel and well-protected. No waiting for cool-down. Lots of light and haven't changed batteries yet in 1-1/2 seasons already. I've thought about rigging up LED's like the ones talked about forever and a day on this site, but I walk on a lot and need something to light the way home anyway...

Big Pine Walleye can chime in here, too. I know he has the same model.

i have a coleman w/ rechargeable batteries but there's no heat and I don't think it's as bright as my propane lantern.

I use one when i am by myself and it i like using one. I have a rechargeable one so i dont have to use propane, it doesn't get hot and it lights up my portable 2 man real well.

I also have the rechargable with two brightness settings. Have not had any problems using it in the cold in the portable, even setting it on the ice by the hole.

I have a rechargable fluorescent Coleman and a 12 light LED lantern with a reostat that uses 4 D cell batteries. After using both for ice fishing, I've pretty well been sold on the LED one. It now stays in the back of my pickup.The batteries last almost forever.
