Fishhead?

Hey are you around this weekend? How was Burntside last weekend? We did make it up to the Shoe last week and found a pretty good pod of cats. They were lightin' up the vex all day from about ten feet off the bottom on down. Ended up with six, and missed twice as many more - as is usually the case while ice fishing. The really interesting thing was, later in the day another guy started setting up next to us and he said that this was a great evening walleye bite spot. We fished till 5:30 and it got continuously slower as the evening went on. I'd hoped the fish would get active at dusk like last year, but the temps really plummetted and that probably contributed to the diminishing bite.

The camera was useless. The water was so sturred up I bet we couldn't see more than a couple inches. Although I did catch a glimpse of one cat. It was really amazing just how many fish were there. They obviously just weren't turned on because we had tons of lookers, but very few takers. You'd think that these good sized predators would really smack a bait too, at least a little like they do in July and August, but they were hittin' lighter than walleyes with a case of lockjaw.

Jon and I managed to get the last room available in Baudette for the FM event in March. I can't wait for that one. It'll be fun to have you up on the big lake. I'm sure you'll have a great time there and surely catch a nice mess of fish. I'm hoping it'll convince you to make LOW a more regular lake on your schedule - I'd enjoy your company on my trips up there more often.

Good to hear you got into a few cats.

I was out of town all weekend.UP the Battle Lake and hit the 'Shoe today and had some very good success thanks to IceHawk.
