Vexilar SE ??

Does the IR feature on the Vexilar SE really work better or is it just a marketing ploy ?

They say you can fish in the same house without interference. Is this true? Do they really make a flasher that isn't effected by interference.

I know I have used the IR button numerous times on my vex. Especially when one of my buddies has his vexilar, or marcum. usually a couple of pushes and everyone is happy.

I have 2 fl-8-slt's when fishing deeper then 25' in the same house one of them is ussually turned off because we can't read them. I'm wondering if the SE model will help.

I use an fl-8 slt with an i.r. button and it works for me.

On my vex. you need to "push-in" the gain button to activate the i.r. feature. The red light will turn on after doing so.

I have found that if you are fishing side by side with two vexilars, have one guy shut off his IR and make the adjustments with the other one. This seems to work for me.

We tried it all, one IR on, one off, both on, both off. Pushed the IR 10 times on one unit while the IR is off on the other.

No luck fishing deeper than 25' in the same house.

Are you having trouble seeing anything? I most often have a small amount of interference when I am fishing two in a house, but not enough to shut one unit off. I seem to remember that the gain really affects the amount of interference that is showing up on the screen. The higher you have it, the more you see it on the screen. The downfall of this is that at a lower gain, it makes it a little more difficult to see small jigs. It sounds like you have tried a lot of different things. I'm not sure what else to tell ya. I do know that when I fish with my 8 and my brother is fishing with his 18, we virtually don't have any problems at all with interference.

The only time we have a problem is when we're fishing deeper than 25', (Which is quite often)

We've messed around with the gain and IR but it doesn't really help at all when fishing deep water.

I wonder if the SE model is the answer?

Are you sure the I.R. is turned "on"? There should be a red light that comes on after pushing in the gain control.

Yes the IR was on,

we know how these things work, that's why it's so frustrating, we can't seem to knock out the interference.

I have a fl8se and fish with my buddies all the time with no problem. I also fished the contest at Brainerd 50+ feet every kind of unit around once in a while a little flicker but nothing I can't read through.

Before my two buddies switched to marcum's (I'm slow) we used to fish 3 FL-8's in the same house... all 3 of us would end of with IR on, but it worked.
