Anyone,

After my grandpa passed away,I found an old rod and reel of his.......It is stored in a cloth case, the rod is stainless steel, and the reel is a bait caster... # 775 South Bend Perfectoreno.

Can anyone tell me what year this might be from, and if it has any value besides looking cool?

Thanks for any responds

Your outfit is probably from the late 1930's or on into the l940's-perhaps even early 50's. If does not have any serious value to a collector. Would be a great thing to hang on the wall though, maybe with a little plaque identifying it as your grandfathers.

These were very common for a long time so you would have to do some real research to determine precisely when it was made. Enjoy it.

My great Uncle, Dick Streater, has published many antique fishing lure reference books. These publishings often feature rods, reels, and anything ever made for fishing that has any sort of value. If you can track down one of these works chances are good that you can find an appraisal of the value of your grandpa's set up. I believe the latest publication is "The Fishing Lure Collector's Bible". Hope that hekps you!
