I just picked up a Otter Lodge myself. From what my co-worker has said...the otters pull like a dream. His "big" portable is the Frabill Triplex (or whatever the 3 person hut is) It's a nice hut...but sucks to pull....and he has had nothing but troubles with his windows crackin in his Frabill....(no problems in either of our Fish Traps) I guess if it were me, I'd pull the trigger on the Otter (and I almost bought the cabin...but it might be a bit tight for two people)

Good luck in your choice. Cabelas would be a good spot to check in the south...especially since they are running their "credit card" deal until the 24th. I want to say I thought the sleds were selling around 100 and the tents were around 320 or so.

I looked at the Lodge on there HSOforum and it is bigger but I will be fishing by myself sometimes. How easy is the lodge to lift out of a truck and flip up for 1 person? Also is there a rope you get to put it? Would I need the hyfax runners? Ill drive threw Owatonna around xmas and will check them out at Cabelas. Wonder if Fleet farm or gander mountain has them or somewhere in Rochester. What kind of deal is it with Cabelas credit card? I think I might just get the lodge cause I could wait and get a deal for the fish trap pro when there on sale in a couple months.

I had the Lodge out for it's maiden voyage yesterday and Otter makes an EXCELLENT fish house. It pulled really nice and easy on the ice (well, anything would have pulled nice yesterday....with it as glare and smooth as the ice was) I had it loaded down so two of us loaded and unloaded it....but you could probably lift the one end up on the tailgate and slide it in.....I'd say go and sit in them....really think about how you lay out your stuff on the ice and that may determine if you need a cabin or lodge. Either one, you can't go wrong.

As for Cabelas. Right now if you are a card holder, pending on what you spend (and put) on your card....they take so much off. If you spend 450+ (Which with a new house is easy to do) they automatically take $100 dollars off the purchase. This is going through December 24. There are other levels 50-150...150-250...etc...I just don't remember how much you got off each level.

Good luck!
