Ice castle fish houses

I bought one in sept of this year and have used it 4 times for hunting and so far so good. I like mine alot but as anyone will tell you on this forum, time will tell. I had mine custom made and there is only 2 things I would have done different, placement of the gas lights and reading lights above the bunks. I had mine wanescoted with pine and I spent a week putting three coats of varnish on all of the pine. While varnishing on my knees I got to get a close up view of the entire house and I was impressed with the craftsmanship and material quality that was put into my house. Mine is 8x16 with a V front, thermo pane windows, a bay window in back, flat screwless siding and diamond plate all around. Those are some of the options I personally would not want to be without. I have heard of some issues in the past about their frames but from what I have seen and the way they stand behind their product it was not an issue for me. I haven't had it long enough to be an expert on them but I liked what I saw and bought it. No regrets,Ken grin.gif

I've had mine for 2 years now and love it. First thing, always check your tire pressure and watch it closely. I had to slightly overinflate mine due to two blowouts on the same trip. Three service stations said it was due to too low air pressure and too much weight. Not specifically a Ice Castle issue, the service station guys said it happens often and with any kind of fish house. I've had no problems since.

The one thing I would look into though is some type of furnace that doesn't require a 12 volt battery to run. It's do-able and not that bad, but I would rather not deal with charging batteries all the time.

With the propane lights I am thinking of adding I think I will be able to run my house for about 3 to 4 days between the heat from the lights and the lack of battery draw from battery lights. I'm going to post another post asking about the propane lights so I don't hi-jack your post. All that said, I like my Ice Castle and would buy one again.
