Ice On Phalen

Pass the lake everyday on my way home. Not sure how thick the ice is but there was a portable out on it today at four. Was it you Mr. Pike?

i drive around it everyday. work for UPS. it was open monday and when i drove by it last night it was froze over. i wanna take a break and check the ice but i get to the area when its dark out. dont think the boss would like a phone call cause i went for a swim.

It was not Mr. Pike on Phalen. Last year I got out there early ice since it is in the area. I actually had only really went there to set up the shack and test out the heater, lantern, camera, vex, and punch a few holes to make sure all was a go. But as long as I was there I tossed out a tip up and did some jigging. To my surprise I got a some nice fishing action.

I drove by last night and no one on Phalen but there was a guy in the middle of Round lake.

Was going to pick up my daughter today and saw a couple guys in the middle of Round Lake. On the way back decided to go around Phalen. On the north side there were two portables out. Not far off the boat ramp, maybe 100 feet or so. Don't know how thick the ice is, as I went around saw open water on the ice. Think I'll be waiting at least until next weekend with the warm weather this weekend.

I stopped at Phalen and there was 4" of ice. Saw a couple of pike come up on tip ups.
