Temps - when do river cats shut down?

Okay, I remember learning this year that river cats don't turn on until the water hits 50* or so - and spawn at 70*. What and when is their off-switch?

Good question?
I always am concntrating on eyes by the time the temps are in the 50's.I have however caught many cats casting for eyes when the temps are near the mid 40's.I have also caught them verticle jigging whenthe temps are in the upper 30's.Sometimes they are pinkish!You can see their veins right through their skin.
