I have the SRT and love the 7 inch screen. However, I don't think it was worth the extra $70 bucks. Just my 2 cents worth.

Only the XL,SRT, and Quad have 7" screens. The only difference with the Scout2 and SRT is SRT gives you 15' of extra cord, Water Temp Display and a slightly bigger screen.

Yes, because the SRT has Spectral Response instead of InfraRed. SR is better if you are going to use your camera more for Night Fishing. Now, I'm not bias either way, but I've heard that the SR isn't as great as they say it is. But I don't know this personally. I'm sure there will be more peeps who can tell you if SR is worth the money or not. I personally have an XL, but haven't had a chance to try it out yet.

Differences:

SRT has 35' less cord than XL.

SRT has Spectral Response (Night Vision) XL doesn't

SRT has water temp display, XL doesn't

I just bought the scout 2, it has the SR lighting. the only difference is the 7 inch screen and temp. and from what I looked at, the 7 inch screen resolution was not very good. the 5 inch was much sharper. I think they used the resolution from the 5 inch and stretched it, at least thats what it looks like.

I just bought the outdated XL from Gander after rebate, $10 discount and with tax it will have only cost me $113 clams. They had them listed for $179, but the ad said after rebate $129, so I capitalized on another $25 off. Haven't tried it yet. The first one I got that day I had to take it back cause the monitor wasn't working right.

So for that money what the hay!

The Scout and the Scout II SRT both have 5" screens. The Scout XL and the Scout SRT have 7" screens. I have been fortunate enough to use both style lighting systems and the SRT lighting system picks up less of the particles in the water compared to the infared (IR) lighting. This really comes into play when the lakes are turning or you are fishing on the bottom in a lake with a soft sand or muck bottom. If a fish moves or you accidentally bounce the camera off the bottom, the SRT will let you see sooner as the cloud clears.

I got the same deal. $129 with a $25 rebate, $20 gift card handed to me when I went in the door at 7am and I had a 15% off coupon and I brought mine home for $72 plus tax.
