The Rayteon 365 is very sensitive to electical interference. This might be your problem. I have sent back my unit a half dozen times for different problems. The most anoying was when the unit would actually turn itself on. Witht eh boat sometimes sitting for a week or more in really puts a hurt on the battery. I have since recieved a unit that is not as sensitive to the electical noise in the boat and have shielded all cables. It now works pretty good. They ended up fixing it a couple times and then replacing it twice. Before I got something that I could use.

Give their tech people a call and see what they think. The number should be in your owners manual. Otherwise return it and get your money back.

The depthfinder is hooked up to my starting battery. If the engine is running any higher than an idle the display on my fishfinder dims and blinks to the point that it is no longer readable. If I idle the engine back down it is readable again. Must be some kind of interference. Should I rewire it to one of the trolling motor batteries?

Yes, hook it up to its own battery. It still sounds like a weak battery. You should have now problems with a seperate good battery.Do not wire it to a trolling motor battery, you will get interference when using the troling motor the same time you are using the locator.
