valve cap ?

i have a polaris sportsman and needed some new caps a while ago so i put on 4 new caps they are the little metal type and i went to take one of them off to put air in and all that happens is the whole valve stem turns i ended up taking it to a local tire shop and having them put a new valve stem in so i thought it was just something wrong with that cap now i went to put air in a different tire and am having the same problem has anyone else experienced this and also is there any way i can fix it without taking it back over to the tire shop

Grab the stem with a pliers and the cap with another pliers. Twist it off. Then go find some cheap plastic caps that don't crank down so tight.
