I see the MN DNR found out that the Blue Cat weighing in at over 52 lbs was actually caught in SD! Got himself a couple of citations to remember his "fish story" by! A lot of you were right when questioning the catch!!

Where did you see that at? It did seem to good to be true. But who knows what swims arounds in the river. I nearly **** in my pants last year when I caught a freshwater eel. It was a good fighter though.

DNR site in the Newsroom portion under News Releases. It's in the article about the 5 new state record fish caught last year to be recognized on March 8, 2003 at the Sports Show. Awarding 5 new records and taking 2 records away!

Well guys as for me I think that is good news because I just could not get myself to believe it. I have fished the minnesota river for many years and have still not got a blue and not even a little one.

From the StarTrib:

Two state-record fish have been removed from the record books, including a rare blue catfish caught last year, Minnesota DNR officials said.

Steve Ness of Browerville originally said he caught the 52-pound, 8-ounce catfish near Lac Qui Parle.

But conservation officers have since learned the fish was caught in South Dakota. Ness has been cited for possession of wild animals in the state that have been unlawfully taken and for knowingly signing a false affidavit.

The state record rainbow trout also has been removed from the books at the request of the angler who caught it. The fisherman said the application was entered with incorrect information about the 17-pound, 6-ounce fish caught in 1974 near the Knife River. No citations were issued.

Meanwhile, five new state-record fish will be recognized at an awards ceremony at the Northwest Sports Show in Minneapolis on Saturday.

Records were set for yellow bullhead (3 pounds, 10.5 ounces), two records for white crappie (3-6 set Jan. 23, 2002, and 3-15 set July 28), silver redhorse (8-4) and tullibee (5-11.8 ounces).
