BradB, How long did you leave the Ice-Well in the hole? How cold was it outside?

I left in in for 2 days in my sleeper house on Mille Lacs. It was quite cold out. I had hoped to use it as a minnow bucket inside the house, but as it got stuck haven't used it since.

It wouldn't be convenient to knock it when used in my sleeper. I suppose that my application wasn't the best for it.

Probably not the best application. But if you do plan to leave it that long. Move it periodically and you will be just fine

BradB, If you want to leave it in your hole as a bait storage system, I think that you could put a rock in the bag so it sinks and then have a rope with a foat on top so it keeps the top of your rope just below the ice hole. Chip out or drill out the hole grab the rope and pull up the Ice-Well. This would work and not freeze the Ice-Well bag in the hole.

Another question I seen posted was the size bag for a hole. If you have a 7" dia auger the 7" dia Ice-Well bag will work. For ease, just put a broom handle (wood dowel or a big dipper ) into bag and push it down the hole. It's quicker and you are instantly set up and ready to fill with fish.

Good Luck, Bruce Mosher

I had concerns about fish hitting Ice Well and tangling in my portables...discussed it with Brad at ice Show. Ending up buying one because it looked like a handy item.

After using it a half dozen times on Mille Lacs now..turns out it was a total non issue...all I do is only put enough of bag down for number of fish in it, leave the rest on top of ice. Simple solution.

I flat out love it, a great product, plan on using it wading the river too. Taking home live fish instead of frozen makes cleaning a simple matter. Thawing fish in sink was always worst part of cleaning. Now I just fillet them in my garage right after I unload. smile.gif

(Also like those little velcro packet things he sells..and the rod rocker2)
