Fiber glass ice rods?

Saw some at a local out door shop. DO they get brittle in the cold? They had a nice feel for pannies, but I didn't know about the durability in the cold.

They have been around since I was a pup and have always worked well. I would worry more about graphite being affected by the cold. It's pretty hard to kill fiberglass.

Glass rods are actually more durable and can withstand more abuse than graphite rods. A lot of the larger rods for lake trout are made from glass. Very powerful and can take some pressure. They load similar to other rods, but their capacity is much higher...

I prefer graphite for pannies myself, but glass rods will work as well...
