Is it a sure thing that the Belle Plain catfishing contest is on Aug 3?
Thats earlier then it normally is.
I need to make sure I am off work.
How The Cats been biting for you? Not much happening in my boat.

Hi Hubcat!

Yes, the Contest starts Friday at 4PM and ends on Saturday the 3rd of August at 4PM.

One goofy thing this year...You'll get a permit to transport the "live fish" if your entered in the contest but you have to transport the fish in clean water, not river water!.....its really stupid but they are worried about exotics moving from one spot to another (On the same river)...I guess thats why we pay for licenses.

I haven't been Catfishing alot but I did get a real nice Flathead at Rapidan and Missed another big one (I think) near Belle Plaine. Why don't you E-mail me and next time I head for Mankato we can maybe hook up.

Our first Catfish League "Fish Off" is tonight....Gonna go with cut bait....the river is dirty.

Do you suppose that those catfish are really going to like that city water with all that flouride and junk in there? Or do they want you to take your boat to a different lake and fill up there so that by the time that the water is clean you dumped all of the river water into the lake? Also, I thought that it was illegal to transport live fish in any container.

Yup....seems kinda sideways. I've always had a problem with "Management" and it looks like the same kind of ill-attempt here too.....Oh well, whatayado?....I'll use whatever water I need to in order to get the job done and keep the fish in good shape.

Do you know when you can register for the contest?
It is kind of a hit and miss for me when I can go catfishing, but we should try to get out sometime. I check my e-mail every day at work so let me know when you are planning on being in the mankato area or we could just plan on meeting some place. My e-mail is [email protected]. I think I still have your e-mail from last year at home.

You can call Pat at 952-492-3300 for details. I talked with him yesterday and Hes making up the flyers this week.

I'll be in touch....I really want to check out that Power Plant area this year.

      got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out

      Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!

      we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
