Had skim ice on the smaller puddles this morning. If it keeps this up we might have ice by Thanksgiving. I can only wish.

Where are you at Bob that you had some ice? I am looking for people who really know what they are doing down here that I may learn lakes to fish on in this not so great ice fishing state. I am from MN so have an obsession for ice fishing and am just looking for a little guidance and maybe people to get together to fish with if you were up dor it at some point.

wal-i-princess!!! Are you gonna make it up to the gunflint for some lake trout and splake action this winter? You already missed the fall run, when are we gonna see the king again?!?!

I didn't see any skim on Lake Carlton at Morrison-Rockwood State Park in Morrison, IL. I am gettng anxious to get my shelter out and do some hard water fishing.

jbird, we had some the other morning. With these temps this week it not going to be anytime soon . Remember last year. Ice in Dec. then the Jan. thaw. I am hoping for ice by Christmas or shortly there after and hopefully it stay for the season.

but afterall this is IL not quite as for sure as the frozen land up north there where 4 feet by february is often the norm. I too am getting really antsy to get out. Have any of you guys ever tried Shabbona through the ice? Think that will be my area to figure out this year and maybe a couple trips to the fox chain if any of you guys are ever interested let me know.

I fished shab a couple of years ago. Lots of crappies 8". If I get some time I can show you some spots. They were there on every trip.
